What is it?

🥑Avo-cah-dos are fruits, not vegetables like some people may think. They come in hundreds of varieties – varying in shape, size and color. They grow in temperate climates and are most famously grown in Mexico and California. 

What’s it for?

🧭 Avocados are high in healthy fats, making people equally drawn to them and hesitant to consume too much of them. Everything in moderation, right? Here’s what makes these “extra” fruits so great:

~ MUFA’s again! Fats make up about 77% of this fruit! Because of its nutrient density, it is a great, wholesome snack when paired with protein. The fatty acid in particular that makes these bad boys so nutritious is oleic acid, which is known to reduce inflammation.

~ Rich in fiber & potassium (even so more than bananas!). The plant fiber avocados contain are soluble fiber, which is kind and beneficial to our gut bacteria.

~ Because avocados are high in fat-soluble Vitamins A, K, D and E, they help the body to absorb other antioxidants more optimally. So when pairing a salad or smoothie with some avocado, you are actually helping your body to better absorb the other antioxidants present. 

How to make it/consume it?

🥑Guacamole, frozen in smoothies, sliced over salads, rolled into sushi – avocado inspo is just about everywhere these days. Even, sadly, in your ice cream (don’t try that one at home, kids!!) Just kidding, do your thang. Just slice it open, pop out the pit and you are good to scoop and go!
