What is it?

⚡️ Maca is popularly consumed in powder form, however it is actually a root vegetable! It is also considered an adaptogen (double whammy!) and looks similar to a turnip.

What’s it for?

🧭 I’ve always known maca for its energy boosting and hormone balancing properties, both mega powerful benefits on their own. However, it also packs a punch of:

~ Antioxidants! If you’re constantly hearing about antioxidants but have no clue why they’re so healing – here’s why. Antioxidants help fight off free radicals and help to prevent further damage to cells. They also help to reduce blood sugar and cholesterol. 

~ SEX HEALTH! Now that I have your attention, YES! Maca is a great benefit to overall female sexual health. It especially helps with menopause – both pre and post symptoms. One study found that after 6 weeks of ‘maca treatment’, depression and anxiety was reduced in post-menopausal women. Hell. Yes.

~ Now for the gents. Maca also boosts male fertility. It can increase sperm quality and motility (ability of an orgasm to move independently), which are both huge factors when it comes to male infertility.

How to make it/consume it?

⚡️ A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY!  Maca is powerful, so starting with just 1/4 tsp at a time is the best, in my opinion. Then, slowly work your way up over the course of a month or so to see how you feel. Too much and you’ll think you had 5 cups of coffee!
