Easy, Collagen Matcha

This is as simple as it sounds.

Easy, collagen matcha. This recipe is pretty straightforward, but the ingredients and execution can change it entirely. Maybe not the taste necessarily, but the ritual of it. Which is, as you probably know, what I’m all about. I started making my own nut milks this year – almond, hemp, cashew, macadamia – and it has changed the game entirely. If you’ve never had real nut milk before (before you ask, no – store bought, gum-filled, preservative-dependent nut milks are not real nut milk) it will rock your world. You’ll never turn back. Try it. Then thank me, or curse me. Nutever.

So in this recipe I’ll offer you two ways that you can take on the Easy, Collagen Matcha. It’s not only delicious, but a great way to kickstart your morning, no matter what you have on the agenda for the day.

Ingredients for Option 1:

1/4 cup (ish) Water

1.5 tsp Matcha

12 oz / 1.5 cup Homemade Nut Milk

1 scoop Vital Proteins Marine Collagen

Pinch of vanilla bean (optional)


Small pot (if you don’t have ready boiled water)

Chawan (bowl)

Chasen (whisk)

Directions, Option 1 – Traditional Ritual:

Scoop matcha into chawan.

Bring water to a soft boil. Before adding it to your matcha, test the temperature and make sure it is no more than 175°. Anything higher will burn your matcha. Add to your matcha one splash at a time. You may only use about half of the water, if that.  

Whisk with chasen until all clumps are gone.

Pour into nut milk and add 1 scoop of Marine Collagen. I used Vital Proteins, but you can use any collagen you have. 

Add vanilla bean, if using.

Finally, swirl around with a chopstick/spoon or put a top on if using a mason jar and shake well.

Serve and enjoy!


Ingredients for Option 2:

1.5 tsp Matcha

12 oz / 1.5 cup Nut Milk

1 scoop Vital Proteins Marine Collagen

Pinch of vanilla bean (optional)


Blender or Frother

Directions, Option 2 – Bitch Is In A Hurry Ritual:

Add all inredients to a blender or cup.

Blend or froth.

Serve and enjoy!
